General Q + A

  • Please bring your passport (non-expired), one passport photo, payment, list of medications, medical reports of any chronic conditions/significant medical history (from either primary care physician or treating specialists), and any communications you have had with immigration (i.e. IMM1017 form).

  • You will first fill out paperwork regarding your medical history. You will then be asked to produce a urine sample, and the full physical exam will be performed. Following this, you will get a chest x-ray and blood work down the street at Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital- Needham (148 Chestnut St, Needham, MA 02492).

  • The medical examination takes approximately 1.5 to 2 hours in total.

  • Yes, you may eat and drink as normal prior to the medical examination. This will not impact the tests performed.

  • We use eMedical to electronically submit your medical examination results. We receive and upload the lab results within two weeks from the date of your visit.

  • Unfortunately, insurance does not cover immigration medical exams since this was done for immigration purposes.

  • Once we have completed submitting your results to the respective immigration department via eMedical for approval, we will send you the completed information sheet.

  • Appointments should be avoided during menstruation for those applicants who are required to have a urine test for a Canada immigration medical exam.

  • Applicants who are pregnant may choose to defer the chest x-ray. If you choose to defer the chest x-ray, then it must be completed at Beth Israel Needham after you give birth.

  • Once filed, your medical records become the property of the immigration and you will need to contact immigration for any copy. We will notify you if there is any significant abnormality for your medical exam.

Scheduling Q + A

  • To best schedule an appointment, we strongly recommend emailing us at contact@allergyasthmaboston.com. Within the email, we ask that you include the country (Australia or Canada), your full legal name, number of applicants, email address, and best phone number to reach you at. You may also give us a call at 781-742-1208.

  • We only conduct immigration medical examinations at our Needham office due to close proximity to medical facilities where additional testing takes place (chest x-ray and blood testing).

  • Unfortunately, we do not schedule same day appointments, as our immigration medical exam appointments are typically booked one to two weeks in advance.

  • Once you make an appointment, we reserve that time slot for you and we prepare all the paperworks ahead of time. We strongly advise you to keep the appointment as scheduled. If you have to cancel or reschedule, please be aware the next available appointments might be weeks later.
